Proper Rest

Updated: Oct 13, 2020

(Law No. 5 of the 8 Laws of Health)

We all know that rest is important, but how many of us get to experience proper rest every night?

Sleep is vital because it enables the body to repair and be refreshed and ready for another day. It boosts your immune system, improves concentration, improves memory, helps you grow, makes you more alert, reduces stress, lowers blood pressure and helps maintain a healthy body weight.

So as you can see, sleep does wonders for your body and mind and shouldn't be neglected! Adults should try and get 8hrs of sleep every night, children obviously need more.

In order to get the best sleep, have a light evening meal and try and eat your last meal before 6 o'clock. It's good to leave 4 hrs between your meal and bedtime because it allows your body to take its focus away from digestion and put it towards repair and rejuvenation of the body's cells. Not eating too late also makes you hungrier in the morning, which prepares you for breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and shouldn't be skipped!

If you're having trouble sleeping, remove ALL screen time and drinks one hour before bedtime. Have a nice hot bath with Epsom salt, put a few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow and cast all your cares upon Jesus, for He cares for you!❤
